Cooking with allergy kids: Rice Krispy cakes and Easter Eggs

Une excellente recette à réaliser avec des enfants allergiques. Sans lait, sans œuf, sans gluten, sans soja et vraiment délicieuse ! Et vous pouvez utiliser la même recette pour préparer des œufs de Pâques sans allergènes. 

Ingrédients

• 50 g de margarine sans produits laitiers
• 1 cuillère à café d'extrait de vanille
• 200 g de guimauves
• 120 g de céréales de riz croustillantes

Méthode

1. Line a tray (22x33cm) with cling film, leaving enough film around the edges to cover the top when it’s folded in. 
2. Melt the margarine over a low heat then add the marshmallows and vanilla extract. Stir until completely melted then remove from heat.
3. Put the rice cereal in a large bowl and pour the marshmallow mixture over the top (you can add the cereal direct to the saucepan but using a cool bowl means the kids can help stir). Stir until the cereal is well coated.
4. Next tip the mixture into the prepared tray and squash the mixture into the corners (no need to be neat). Fold the extra cling film in from the sides to cover the mixture and press firmly into the sides of the tray.
5. Put into the fridge to cool for 30 minutes.
6. Once the mixture has set, turn out on to a board and peel off the cling-film before cutting into squares.

Envie de changement : essayez d'utiliser des céréales enrobées de chocolat ou ajoutez des fruits secs finement hachés (les abricots sont parfaits) ou des pépites de chocolat.

Easter Eggs for allergy kids

This recipe can also be used to make allergy-friendly Easter Eggs using hollow plastic eggs as moulds (ours came from Poundland). Half of the above mixture makes about 8 eggs.

Lavez les œufs en plastique et graissez-les avec de la margarine. Mettez environ une demi-cuillère à café de filaments de sucre dans le moule, fermez-le et secouez-le doucement pour que les filaments adhèrent uniformément à la margarine. Ensuite, versez le mélange à la cuillère de chaque côté du moule et refermez-le - idéalement, vous devriez avoir juste assez de mélange pour rendre le moule difficile mais pas impossible à fermer. Une fois que le mélange aura pris, vous pourrez ouvrir les moules et faire glisser vos œufs de Pâques anti-allergiques.
